The III. International Social Sciences Congress of the Faculty of Letters Congist’24, titled “Social Sciences and Artificial Intelligence: Theory and Practice,” will be held on
December 18-20, 2024. This year, the theme of Congist’24 will explore the relationship between artificial intelligence and social sciences, with a pioneering institute on AI research Erasmus University Rotterdam School of Philosophy as our partner institution. In today’s world, the use of AI influences various aspects of our lives and directly reshaping social structures. Its inclusion in areas such as political and ethical debates, as well as its impacts on creation, distribution, and utilization of scientific knowledge highlights its profound effects. The congress aims to examine the relationship between social sciences and artificial intelligence extensively, bringing together the diverse approaches based on participants’ areas of expertise and interdisciplinary perspectives. Through this congress, we will explore both the positive and negative impacts of AI and by examining both its potentialities and limitations, we aim to provide an extensive framework for understanding how digital tools and artificial intelligence are transforming social sciences, including their influence on the production and accumulation of knowledge, and their broader impact on reshaping social sciences. Accordingly,

  • The congress will feature presentations of esteemed speakers renowned in AI and the social sciences, covering current debates, practices, and theoretical frameworks regarding the relationship between AI technologies and the social sciences.
  • There will be sessions open to suggestions for panel discussions and other thematic sessions, in addition to the titles presented below. The paper abstracts will be accepted after peer review and published as an e-book prior to the congress.
  • Following the editorial selection process, the presented papers will be compiled according to their relevant scientific field and published by Istanbul University Press. Istanbul University Press is an international publishing house, and the published books are indexed by the Web of Science Book Citation Index.

PAPERS AND ABSTRACTS

Abstract Submission Deadline: June 16, 2024

Please find detailed information about the submission and writing guidelines for abstracts for Congist'24 Social Sciences Congress below.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

  • Please refrain from including personal information in the abstract. Personal details (name, surname, article title, institution and department information, email, phone) should be submitted as a separate file along with the abstract. Ensure that the second file is arranges as "Title, Name, Surname, Paper Title".
  • All abstracts must be submitted in either Turkish or English.
  • The please follow the provided guidelines for abstract writing and submission.
  • The abstracts submitted to the congress and accepted for presentation will be published in the III. Congist'24 Social Sciences Congress Abstracts booklet.
  • The final deadline for abstract submission is June 16, 2024, at 00:00 (TSI). Abstracts submitted after this date will not be considered for evaluation.
  • Review results for abstracts will be sent out on July 16, 2024.

Abstract Writing Guidelines

  • Abstract texts should be between 250-300 words in length. If citations are included, the total word count, including the references, should not exceed 400 words.
  • Texts should be submitted as Word documents, using Times New Roman font, single line spacing, and 12-point font size.
  • Abstracts may include figures, tables, formulas, or images.
  • Pages should be formatted with 2.5 cm margins on all sides of A4 paper. Line breaks should be justified, and hyphenation should be avoided.
  • The APA citation style should be used for academic references.
  • Abstracts should include five keywords and should clearly describe the purpose, scope, and results of the study.
  • The abstract should clearly state the conceptual and theoretical framework of the topic, as well as the methods used.
